Monitoring & Automation

What Is an RMM and Do I Need It?

What Is an RMM Tool?

An RMM (Remote Monitoring & Management) tool is a software solution that allows IT Teams to remotely monitor and manage their IT systems. These tools enable IT Teams to keep track of the health and performance of their networks, servers, workstations, and other devices. RMM tools can detect potential issues before they become critical, which allows IT Teams to proactively address them and avoid downtime.

An RMM tool typically consists of two main components: a monitoring agent installed on the devices and a management console the IT Team uses to view and manage the monitored devices. The monitoring agent collects data on the device’s performance, such as CPU usage, disk space, and network traffic. The management console displays this data and allows the IT Team to perform tasks such as software updates, patch management, and remote access.

Why Do I Need an RMM Tool?

  1. Proactive Monitoring and Maintenance: An RMM tool allows IT Teams to monitor their clients’ IT systems in real-time, which enables them to identify and address issues before they become critical. This proactive approach minimizes downtime and ensures that the client’s systems are always functioning at optimal levels.
  2. Increased Efficiency With an RMM tool: you can configure RMM tools to automate many routine tasks, such as software updates, patch management, and antivirus scans. This automation reduces the amount of time and effort required to maintain the client’s IT systems, allowing you to focus on more strategic tasks.
  3. Improved Security An RMM tool provides you with a centralized view of their clients’ IT systems, which enables you to identify security threats and vulnerabilities. With this information, IT Teams can implement security measures to prevent cyberattacks and data breaches.
  4. Scalability As an IT Team’s client base grows, it becomes increasingly challenging to manage their IT systems manually. An RMM tool allows IT Teams to scale their operations by automating many of their routine tasks, allowing them to serve more clients without sacrificing quality.

Are All RMM Tools Created Equal?

While many RMM tools may use the same engine backbone, the quality of their features, functionality, and user experience can vary widely depending on the provider. Just like how two restaurants can use the same food supplier, the quality and flavor of the food they serve can turn out very differently based on their cooking techniques, ingredients, and presentation.

Soltrain (Our RMM Tool)

Solzorro’s RMM tool is called “Soltrain”. Solzorro has been using Datto RMM as the backbone of our platform for more than 8 years. We have invested heavily in making Solzorro’s Soltrain one of the best RMM tools on the market. We have one of the top Datto RMM experts in the world on our payroll and with his help, we would put our RMM tool up against anyone’s. After years and years of hard work, Soltrain is now one of the most valuable players on our Team.

Example of Value

We have a client who used to pay more than $4,000 per month to update their computers. They unknowingly paid their previous IT provider hourly to manually log in to each computer, update them and then reboot them. The first month we worked with them, they called us in a panic because there was a zero-day vulnerability in Chrome that needed to be patched immediately. The office manager was worried that their computers might be vulnerable to cyberattacks. But to their surprise, our RMM tool had already taken care of it because we had automated the procedure.
The office manager was amazed at how quickly and efficiently we had patched their computers. They couldn’t believe that they were paying so much money before for such a simple and automated process. We explained to them that by automating these procedures, we could save them money and time, and increase their security posture. From that day on, they were our loyal clients, and we continued to provide them with efficient and cost-effective IT services. They were happy that they no longer had to worry about managing their computers and could focus on their business without any interruptions.

RMM Cost

We include our RMM tool automatically for our managed IT clients. If you sign up for Solzorro’s Soltrain, we charge $10 per month per device. We also lower our hourly rate for our RMM clients to $115 per hour (instead of our usual $125 per hour).
